Today, I'd like to ask you for a favor. I'm working on a book about life in the mid 1900's in a remote Maine Community referred to as "In Behind the Mountain" and I'm looking for Maine pictures, stories and recipes from this time period.
Because the book revolves around the daily lives of women and children as the men are off in the "woods camps" during the winter, it also includes a section on gardening, wild foods, and food preservation techniques used at the time - such as drying foods, jelly making, cheese making, and canning. It also includes quilt making and knitting.
If you, or someone you know, has information to share for this book, I'd love to hear from you!
Until next time . . . HAPPY GARDENING!
