I ran across this photo while looking for images of pole beans today and was immediately transported to the magically world of Jack and the Beanstalk. It makes me wish that I had thought of planting pole beans outside the window when my kids were young.
Imagine the delight for a child to have these magical beans outside the window and watching as they climb their way to the heavens.
Think a reading nook in your child's room with fairy tale posters, bookshelves and colorful books. Tuck in a comfy chair and a few stuffed animals for your little one to read to and watch as his imagination takes flight.
To further enhance the magical atmosphere, consider planting scarlet runner beans instead. These produce bright red blooms and attract hummingbirds to the vines.
If you have little ones at home - or grandkids that visit often - put this on your list of gardening projects for next year.
