I'm trying something new this year. My daughter gave me seeds for Bonsai trees for Christmas and I have visions of creating this delightful little Wisteria bonsai. Of course, I know it will be years before I can produce anything like the picture, but they have always appealed to me and now I have the perfect opportunity to try my hand at the art of Bonsai.
From what I've read, its best to start with special bonsai soil that contains Akadama, a baked Japanese clay. I'm not sure how important the clay really is to growing Bonsai trees, but I'll trust Bonsai Empire on this one and make an effort to find the right soil. I haven't ordered it yet, but it is on my list of things to do this week.
Check back soon, as I will post about the soil and my experiences starting Bonsai trees from seed soon. For now, I will be busy browsing seed catalogs to decide what I want to grow this year.
Until Next Time .... HAPPY GARDENING!
