Annual Flowers


Annuals are flowers that complete their entire life cycle within one year. Some flowers, like the Gerbera Daisy, Petunia and Geranium listed below are actually tender perennials that are grown as annuals in cool season gardens found in Maine. I have included them here for simplicity.

Because annuals are typically in full bloom when you purchase them at the nursery or greenhouse, they are ideal for adding quick color to Maine Gardens as soon as the last expected frost has passed. But beware! These tender plants are killed easily by frost and will not survive outside in cool weather!
