I found this adorable Fly Thru Mesh Bird Feeder in a local discount store late this summer and have been using it for a few weeks now. I must admit it's greatest feature is that it simply looks amazing hanging in front of a window or it the garden, but let's take a look at its other features.
Appearance: This feeder is attractive and adds country charm to the garden. I can't say enough about how much I love to watch birds at this bird feeder. Unique Features: The entire 'frame' of the feeder fills with seeds when you fill the feeder. That means that little birdies can even eat from the roof and floor of the 'tunnels'. This feature allows you to observe birds in a variety of positions as they feed. Squirrels: Although this feeder is made of metal mesh that squirrels and chipmunks can't chew, it is not squirrel proof. Tiny red squirrels and chipmunks can crawl into the tunnels and enjoy a feast a they pick seeds one-at-a-time through the mesh sides. On the plus side, if you enjoy squirrels and chipmunks they look adorable darting in and out of the feeder. Otherwise, you will need to hang this feeder out of their reach or use a squirrel baffle to keep them away. Drawbacks: Sunflower seeds spill out of the holes in the mesh when you fill the feeder. I have discovered that setting the feeder in a 9" by 9" baking pan when I fill it catches the seeds as they fall. Without a catch pan to catch the seeds, this feeder needs to be filled outside. Overall, I am very pleased with this feeder.
