Garden Basics for beginners

New gardeners eager to begin growing a garden often rush out and buy seeds before learning the basics of gardening. Sometimes, that eagerness is a good thing - but without some basic knowledge things can quickly go very bad.


I've added a section on soil and seed starting that should answer most of your questions.  If you are new to gardening, or are starting a garden in a new location this year, I encourage you to take a moment and review the basics of choosing a new garden site. 

Remember, choosing the right location for your garden and preparing the soil well are the most important steps to growing a successful garden.
